2011 VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR - Don Boykiw
Paul Brandt's song and video "I was there" starring Carolyn & Don Boykiw!
The Edmonton Journal came to the community centre on a cold and
frosty evening to film Carolyn and Don doing what they love best - Hockey!
WE
NEED YOU! If you did not know, the outdoor rinks are maintained 100% by
volunteers - Without volunteers there will be no ice, and the more
volunteers we get the easier the job becomes. Many of our long time
volunteers no longer have children who play hockey or use the rink, so
please consider joining us. It is an easy, fun and satisfying task.

NEIGHBOURWOODS is a partnership between The
City and the Willow Ridge Community Association.
Join us on Friday, January 27th, 7:00 pm for a
presentation and discussion.
The City will:
- Provide trees to be planted.
- Prepare a planting site for
the trees.
- Provide tree care information
and free training for the registered resident.
- Help with the planting
process.
- Provide extended healthcare
and maintenance to the trees.
Registered residents are responsible for:
- Planting the tree(s) and
choosing the species.
- Tending the tree(s), including
watering and watching for pests and diseases.
- Contributing $30 per tree for
an efficient watering bag.
- All new trees will be owned by
The City and will be planted on City property.
The City will provide approximately 100 trees (valued at
about $400 each). This program is intended to help replace trees that have
been removed or are dying.
Experience has shown that in order for the program to be
successful, volunteers are required to promote the program door- to-door.
